Uncontainable Homes started the way a lot of good ideas do — out of frustration. We wanted an expandable container home for our own property, but quickly discovered that most Australian suppliers were reselling units from Chinese factories with little to no understanding of local compliance requirements. The homes looked great in photos, but getting them through council was another story entirely.
So we went straight to the source. We found our own factory partner in China, then worked directly with architects, building certifiers, and local planners to understand exactly what's required to meet Australian standards. We built the relationships, learned the regulations, and solved the problem for ourselves.
After helping friends and family do the same, we realised there was a much bigger need. That's how Uncontainable Homes was born — making the process simple for anyone who wants a quality expandable home without the compliance headaches.
Why we're moving to Class 1a. After years in this industry, we've seen firsthand how tightening compliance standards have caught buyers off guard — homes that can't be certified, councils that won't approve, and owners left in limbo. Rather than keep selling expandables that may face these challenges down the line, we've made the decision to engineer our next range to full NCC Class 1a permanent dwelling standard from day one. It costs more to get right, but it means our customers never have to worry about whether their home will pass inspection.
